Short answer
A cannabis grow kit is a bundle of gear for one grow. A starter kit for a 2 ft by 2 ft tent holds six groups in most cases: tent, light, ventilation, pots and medium, nutrients, and measurement tools. Contents differ by seller. Confirm each item before you buy.
Tent and frame
Most kits include a fabric tent with a metal frame. Common sizes: 2x2x5 ft, 3x3x6 ft, 4x4x6.5 ft. The tent has vents, ports, and a floor tray. Some kits add a spill mat or a hanging bar.
Light
Kits ship with an LED panel or a quantum board. A 2x2 kit often has 100 W to 150 W. A 4x4 kit often has 400 W to 480 W. Check the wattage at the wall, not the marketing wattage. Some kits include a timer and a hanger.
Ventilation and odor
A kit with a carbon filter and an inline fan moves air out of the tent. Ducting, clamps, and a speed controller may be in the box. Filter size matches fan size in cubic feet per minute (CFM). A 2x2 tent often uses a 4-inch fan. A 4x4 tent often uses a 6-inch fan.
Pots, medium, and nutrients
Starter kits often include fabric pots, saucers, and a bag of soil or coco. Nutrient bottles may be a two-part or three-part set. Some kits include a measuring cup and a syringe. Soil kits and hydro kits differ. Check which one you bought.
Measurement and control
Look for a pH pen, a pH calibration packet, and a timer. Some kits add a thermometer and a hygrometer. A few kits add an EC meter. These tools matter for water and nutrient mixing.
What kits often leave out
Water, a bucket, a fan for air movement, and a drying rack may not be in the box. Some kits omit the carbon filter or the timer to cut cost. Read the item list. A kit with a light and a tent but no fan lacks a key part.
