No torch, no butane refills, no guessing how hot the nail is. If you dab several times a week, that shorter path from wanting a hit to taking one is the reason the category exists. If you dab a few times a year, a quartz banger and a torch still work fine and cost less.
The three frictions that decide it
When someone asks me what to buy, I look at heat-up time, temperature control, and cleanup. Torch dabbing struggles on all three at home. Convenience has a maintenance bill

Safety and legal notes
Cannabis concentrates carry far more THC by weight than flower, so a dose that looks tiny on a dab tool can hit hard. Start smaller than you think you need. Buy devices with overcharge protection, and never use a battery with a torn wrap.
