Cannabis store hours are not set by the store. State law sets a sales window. City and county rules can shorten that window. The hours posted on the door are the overlap of the two. A store in Denver may close at 7 p.m. A store 30 miles away in the same state may close at 10 p.m.

Five states show how the limits work.
Finding a 24-Hour Dispensary Near You
- Colorado. Retail and medical sales run 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Local governments can cut those hours. Some cities set an earlier close, including 7 p.m.
- Washington. Retail sales run 8 a.m. to midnight under WAC 314-55-077. Cities and counties can set an earlier close.
- Oregon. Retailers may sell 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. under OAR 845-025-2800. Local rules can be tighter.
- California. The state sets no closing hour. City and county ordinances do. Many California cities stop sales at 8 p.m. or 9 p.m.
- Nevada. No statewide closing hour. Some Las Vegas stores sell 24 hours.
Why two stores in one state differ
Local control explains most of it. A city can pass an ordinance with hours shorter than the state window. A license condition can add limits. Zoning, distance from schools, and distance from homes can shape a store schedule. City staffing and security rules matter too. A store cannot extend past the state window. It can close before it.
Last sale and door time
The register must stop at the state or local cutoff. Stores often lock the door 15 to 30 minutes before that time. A store with a 10 p.m. cutoff may stop letting people in at 9:45 p.m. Call ahead if you plan to arrive in the last half hour.

Medical and adult-use hours
Some states run separate windows for medical and adult-use sales. A medical counter may open at 8 a.m. and an adult-use counter at 10 a.m. in the same building. In states with one license type, the window is the same for both.
Holidays
State windows do not change on holidays. Most stores stay open on federal holidays. Some close on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. April 20 and the week before Christmas bring long lines, not longer hours. Sales still stop at the legal cutoff.
Delivery hours
Delivery windows can differ from storefront windows. State rules set a delivery period. Cities can shorten it. Check the store delivery page and the city rules before ordering for a late drop-off.
